BUCC Commitment
As a center, we are committed to engaging in a journey of cultural humility and intercultural maturity. We seek growth in our understanding of how our identities and experiences shape our relationships within both the Baylor community and the broader global context. Our commitment extends not only outward in service but inward, as we each pursue awareness of our personal experiences and the experiences of others.
As a center, we share core values that promote compassion, belonging, respect, and Christian community. These values are expressed through our commitment to empathy, acceptance, and the honoring of all people. We pride ourselves on providing services in the areas of clinical treatment, training, outreach, and prevention. We envision these values, linked to cultural humility and intercultural maturity, being reflected in our interactions with Baylor, the Waco community, and our daily work at the BUCC.
As a center, we strive not only to raise awareness of issues such as injustice but also to foster reconciliation and healing. We believe the spirit of the Christian faith calls us to embrace compassion and love for all, and from this foundation, we strive to cultivate an environment of hospitality, dignity, and humility in all our interactions.
As a center, we find our professional and ethical standards to be complementary to the unique mission of Baylor University. The principles of beneficence and non-maleficence, fidelity and responsibility, integrity, justice, and respect for people’s rights and dignity guide our individual and collective efforts and inform our role within the University.
