Outreach Request Requirements

Before submitting an outreach request, please read through our outreach criteria.

Criteria for outreach programming, workshops, and presentations include:

Advance notice: Submit your request at least (2) weeks prior to the event. While BUCC will make an effort to meet requests, certain times of the year do not allow BUCC the time or resources to do outreach programs.

Audience Confirmation: We are asking that each event have 10 attendees minimum as it adds to the learning environment and utilizes our staff’s resources. If you are unable to ensure attendance, we are happy to discuss other options that can meet your needs.

Desired topic: Please read our standard outreach presentation descriptions to see what best fits your desired event or if other departments would better suit your needs.

  • Accessing BUCC Services
    • Presentation Description: Need an overview of all the services we offer at the BUCC? This presentation provides a snapshot of the services we offer, where we are located, and how students can get connected to our services.
    • Audience: Students, Faculty, & Staff
    • Length of Presentation: 20 - 30 minutes
  • QPR
    • Presentation Description: QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer. The BUCC can provide the QPR gatekeeper training. The QPR training is designed to teach you to recognize the warning signs of a potential suicide crisis, and then to further question, persuade, and then finally refer students to help. With this training, the BUCC strives to equip you with the proper tools and education to reduce suicidal behaviors. Attendees will walk away certified as a QPR gatekeeper.
    • Audience: Students, Faculty & Staff
    • Length of Presentation: 90 minutes
  • Building Healthy Relationships
    • Presentation Description: What are the building blocks of a healthy relationship? How do you know if you are in a healthy relationship? This presentation is designed to help you learn about the vital parts of a healthy relationship, identify what you value in relationships, and the red flags to look out for!
    • Audience: Students
    • Length of Presentation: 45 - 60 minutes
  • Thriving Not Just Surviving
    • Presentation Description: An interactive presentation aimed to identify common factors that impact college student’s mental health and their ability to thrive. Attendees will walk away from this presentation with an established plan of strategies and activities to implement into their daily lives.
    • Audience: Students
    • Length of Presentation: 45 - 60 minutes
  • Helping Students in Distress
    • Presentation Description: As student mental health continues to be a growing issue on college and university campuses, faculty are being asked to spend more time addressing their student’s mental health needs. In this presentation, attendees will be able to recognize when a student may be experiencing emotional and/or psychological difficulties that warrant taking action to ensure that student's safety and support that student's success. Attendees will also identify strategies to create a climate that facilitate identifying and supporting students in distress.
    • Audience: Faculty & Staff
    • Length of Presentation: 45 – 60 minutes
  • Mindfully Managing Stress
    • Presentation Description: Did you know that studies show mindfulness to be helpful in reducing depression and anxiety? People who daily use mindfulness skills report feeling more connected and happier about their relationships and their daily lives. This presentation will teach you basics of how to use mindfulness. You will walk away from this presentation having skills to begin your mindful practice today!
    • Audience: Students
    • Length of Presentation: 45 - 60 minutes
  • Nutrition for Life
    • Presentation Description: A fun presentation that will teach students to eat in a way that is balanced, nutrient dense, delicious, satisfying, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Other topics that can be integrated into this presentation include Intuitive Eating, Body Image, Disordered Eating/Eating Disorders.
    • Audience: Students
    • Length of Presentation: 45-60 minutes
  • Mental Health First Aid
    • Presentation description: Mental Health First Aid is a course designed to teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The skills developed in this class will give you the ability to reach out and provide initial help when someone might be developing a mental health or substance use problem. Attendees will walk away certified as a mental health first aider!
    • Audience: Students, Faculty, & Staff
    • Length of Presentation – 6 hours or 2 (3 hour) sessions

If your event meets all the above criteria, please complete our Outreach request form. Please do not send direct requests to staff persons at the BUCC. All requests must come via the outreach request form in order to be processed.
