Family Focus: A Group to Explore Family of Origin Difficulties
Day/Time: Wednesdays, 9:30am - 11:00am
Location: Dutton Counseling Center
Description: Family Focus is a group for students who want to explore sometimes complicated family-of-origin issues. This group will explore communication styles, family roles/rules/rituals, healthy boundary setting, identity formation, and intergenerational influences. This is a great group for students who want to build insight, self-awareness, skills, and support while learning how to navigate complex family systems. To participate in the Family Focus group, schedule a group information appointment with Dr. Maria Madden.
Creative Arts: An Artistic Visual Art Interpersonal Process Group
Day/Time: Mondays, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Location: Dutton Counseling Center
Description: This weekly process group offers students a supportive space to explore personal and relational challenges through the lens of creative arts therapy. Using art as a medium, students are invited to engage in expressive practices that foster self-awareness, emotional insight, and interpersonal connection. No prior artistic experience is necessary—just a willingness to engage and reflect. This group is ideal for students seeking a dynamic, experiential approach to personal growth and healing. ACT Group: A Group to Address Anxiety/Depression Through Mindfulness and Acceptance
Day/Time: Tuesdays, 10:30am - 12:00pm
Location: McLane Student Life Center Counseling Office (SLC)
Description: Do you ever feel overwhelmed by depression, anxiety or stress? Do racing thoughts or painful feelings keep you from living the way you want? Learn why your difficulties persist despite your best efforts and what you can do differently. In ACT group, we will pay attention to your experiences, learn how to take control of your choices even when they are uncomfortable, and get back to living in the way you really desire. Life to the FULLest – A Group Focused on Disordered Eating/Eating Disorders
Day/Time: Tuesdays, 3:30pm - 5:00pm
Location: McLane Student Life Center Counseling Office (SLC)
Description: This group provides a space for students to identify how disordered eating/eating disorders have interrupted personal goals, affected their sense of self, and relationships with others. Sessions are designed to be both educational and experiential, helping members explore barriers to recovery, build motivation, and cultivate self-compassion. Group facilitators aim to foster a space that is open, affirming, and recovery oriented for all members, with a focus on helping group members provide one another with encouragement and shared accountability. Members will benefit from the group regardless of where they may be in the process of understanding how disordered eating thoughts and behaviors have impacted their life and what is important to them. UnStuck: Living Beyond OCD
Day/Time: Mondays, 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Location: McLane Student Life Center Counseling Office (SLC)
Description: This weekly group offers a supportive space for students who experience obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors. A formal OCD diagnosis isn’t required—just connect with the facilitators to see if the group is a good fit. Along the way, participants will find encouragement, connection, and shared understanding from others navigating similar challenges. GradRoots: A Support Group for Graduate Students
Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
Location: Dutton Counseling Center
Description: This group is designed specifically for graduate students navigating the complex terrain of academic demands and personal life. Through open dialogue and interpersonal exploration, members process the unique challenges of graduate school—from isolation and stress to relationship dynamics and emotional wellness. Just as roots intertwine beneath the surface, this group fosters connection and mutual support among students who may feel alone in their struggles. Whether you're seeking balance, navigating stress, or simply looking for community, GradRoots is here to support your journey—helping you stay grounded while you grow.
